Estate Planning for Blended Families: Unique Concerns and Available Planning Techniques:  At this session we will discuss different considerations for estate planning for blended families.  Is the stepped-up basis enough of an incentive to transmute separate property to community property?  What planning techniques are useful when the new spouse is almost the same age as your client's child?  What are the additional complications when naming a Trustee or Personal Representative?  We will be discussing these and other important pitfalls and planning options for blended families in New Mexico.

Vickie is a graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law, and earned her Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Taxation from New York University.   Vickie grew up in Deming, New Mexico and has been a trust and estate planning attorney in Albuquerque, New Mexico for over twenty-five years.  She is an ACTEC (American College of Trust and Estate Counsel) Fellow and is also a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.  She is honored to have been appointed by the Supreme Court of New Mexico to serve on the State Disciplinary Board, and is currently serving as the Chair.

Vickie practices in the areas of estate planning, tax law, probate, estate and trust administration, charitable giving, business planning and business succession planning.  She speaks both locally and outside New Mexico to financial advisors, attorneys, accountants, and others on tax and estate planning, business planning, charitable giving, planning rlated to qualified retirement benefits and legal ethics.
